THE WEEE MAN.
The machines we use don`t last forever. So what happens when we can`t use them any longer? Currently, most our
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) goes straight into landfills. However, all this e-waste isn`t good for
the environment.
Paul Bonomini used waste equipment to make the WEEE man, a 23 ft. high sculpture in England, to remind us that we
must make less waste.
Five fridges, 35 cell phones, five sandwich makers, and four lawn mowers are part of the 3.3 ton sculpture.
Computes mice are its teeth, vacuum cleaner tubes are his neck, and old washing machine is part of of its spine. How
can this sculpture change our behavior?
Every one of us try to make the world a better place. There are a number of things we can do. Firstly, we should try
to maintain appliances for as long as possible. We shouldn`t throw away old appliances if they ara still in good
working condition. We can repair them, sell them, or donate them. Secondly, we should recycle parts wich we can`t
repair. For example there are companies that recycle old cell phones. Some companies will you buy your old model to
use for spare parts.
